Johnson Controls: Powering A Sustainable Future

CIO Vendor The rate of change in building management technology over the past decade has been swift and diverse. Thanks to companies like Johnson Controls which are driven by the zeal to make the world a better, safer and comfortable place to live in. Building on a legacy of 130 years in building solutions, Johnson Controls has never laid tools to rest. Instead, the organization took to constant technology upgrades and backward compatibility to drive efficiencies in buildings. Johnson Controls is also credited for the unique concept of ‘Technology Contracting’ that defines the delivery of cost savings and longer equipment life.

Significant Technologies for Sustainable Living
While buildings become more connected, complex, and dynamic, need for intelligent building technologies is at the helm to provide data-driven insights to maximize operational efficiency, cut energy waste, and lower overall costs. To address this, the cloud-based Johnson Controls Enterprise Management (JEM) platform uses Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, and deep learning to identify faults and energy saving opportunities across the customer’s portfolio. JEM supports space utilization, harnessing cloud infrastructure which is safe, reliable and secure. Agnostic towards the building automation systems, infrastructure, or service providers, it can be layered into technologies or systems that are already in place to provide new insights that enable owners and operators to make timely decisions.

Johnson Controls has vouched for sustainable energy usage via smart technologies. Johnson Controls’ achievements in sustainability are the result of committed and innovative leadership on environmental issues. The General Manager-India for Johnson Controls, Shrikant Bapat is an industry veteran with 26 years of experience in IT, Uninterrupted Power Solutions and HVAC & Refrigeration businesses. Actively involved with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and Green programs since 2007, Shrikant has championed key green initiatives in the Building Technologies & Solutions space. He has worked alongside the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) to promote the Star rating program for ACs in India. Led by Shrikant, Johnson Controls ensures it continues improving and evolving its sustainability initiatives. To do so, the organization has initiatives like Johnson Controls Global Sustainability Council (GSC), and Johnson Controls Global Manufacturing and Operations Council (GMOC). More so, Johnson Controls’ Metasys building automation system has been a flagship brand globally for the last three decades. It is an intelligent, world-class technology system that uses industry-standard technologies such as Pattern Recognition Adaptive Control (PRAC) to drive higher efficiencies in HVAC equipment control and deliver greater energy savings.
